I’m constantly on the lookout for anything that can make (and keep) my skin flawless. I don’t know about you, but sometimes, I just need my skin to breathe. What, after wearing makeup to work from Monday to Friday, a few Saturdays and Sundays are the only days that my face has to rest. And I, Debby, can’t leave my face bare if my skin doesn’t look good. Mba, it shall not stand!
I’ve struggled with some facial problems from acne to skin burn to uneven skin tone and I’ve bought every facial treatment my money could buy. The journey has been a long and trying one.
Which is why I bring to you today something I’ve been using that has been working wonders for me (let me not hype it too much).
I first found out about the amazing benefits of Turmeric powder online when I was doing a research on natural remedies for acne and spots. And then I found Fig Health Store last year on Instagram. I’ve been using their Turmeric black soap ever since and it is the real deal.
I use this to wash my face regularly and then use a honey mask 3/4 times a week. Recently, I decided to switch up things by adding pure turmeric powder to my honey mask, and my skin feels so much better and smoother because of it. It makes my skin glow too.
Now, one of the benefits of turmeric powder amongst many others is that it rejuvenates the skin, making it look fresher and radiant. This is because it has an active ingredient that is known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is also known to work for an oily face by controlling the secretion of oil from the sebaceous glands.
Turmeric powder can be used in one of the following combinations for the skin:
1. Turmeric + Lemon juice = for treating acne.
2. Turmeric + Rosewater = for clearing acne scars.
2. Turmeric + Orange juice = for oily skin.
3. Turmeric + Egg white + Olive oil + Lemon juice = for dry skin.
4. Turmeric + Lemon/Cucumber juice = for reducing skin pigmentation.
5. Turmeric + Milk = removes dead cells.
6. Turmeric + Honey = moisturizes and brightens the skin.
Before any of these combinations is used as a mask, ensure that you cleanse your face and pat dry before application. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water.
Please note that in all of this, persistence is key. The change you want can’t happen in a day.
